Dr. Prerna Martin joins COPE as the newest clinician with her speciality in treating OCD, eating disorders, and mood disorders in adults, adolescents, and children. Dr. Martin comes to COPE by way of training at Harvard University for her undergraduate degree, University of Washington for her doctorate, and UCLA for her pre and post-doctoral training.
Dr. Prerna Martin describes her therapeutic approach as “deeply relational and person-centered”. She is passionate about empowering clients to face their fears, identify and change unhelpful patterns, heal from past trauma, and develop more compassion for themselves. She has training in evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and specialized training in Exposure & Response Prevention, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Behavioral Parent Training.
She has extensive experience working with clients from diverse, multicultural backgrounds. Her mission is to provide therapy that is grounded in science, while honoring the unique needs of each individual or family. She strives to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore and understand your struggles. Her interpersonal style includes a combination of warmth, directness, and humor to support you in learning new tools and living a life that is aligned with your values.
